Meet Dr. Lauren Hansen
DNP, MEd, APRN, WHNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C
Dr. Hansen is dual board-certified psychiatric and women’s health nurse practitioner at Bloom Psychiatry, a boutique outpatient psychiatric practice in Nashville, Tennessee. Her work focuses on the intersection of mental and reproductive health, with particular expertise in caring for individuals during key life stages, specifically pregnancy and perimenopause. She has a strong clinical interest in treating mixed features, bipolar disorder and supporting individuals with late-diagnosed attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Additionally, she practices addiction psychiatry at Achieve Wellness Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.
Prior to her current role, she worked as a nurse practitioner at multiple obstetric and gynecology practices, caring for women across the lifespan, particularly those pregnant, of child-bearing years, and those with mental health concerns. Those experiences have shaped Dr. Hansen’s integrative and patient-centered approach to care.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Hansen is a speaker for Vanda Pharmaceuticals, Abbvie Pharmaceuticals, and the president-elect for the Tennessee chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA). She was a member of the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) writing group for the most recent position statement on perinatal mental health. She is an adjunct faculty member at Purdue Global University where she teaches the didactic course in child and adolescent psychiatry. Additionally, she is the medical advisor for Delilah Counseling, a contemporary therapy practice for women and girls. These roles allow her to contribute to clinician education, advocacy, and the provision of accessible, evidence-based mental health resources.
Dr. Hansen earned her Bachelor of Education in Sports Science (with a focus in exercise science) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas, her Master of Education from Rockhurst University, her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University, and a post-master’s certificate from the University of Kansas. She completed additional training in bio-identical hormone medicine and holds her Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International.
Dr. Hansen is passionate about providing unbiased education on mental health treatment, especially during the perinatal period, empowering patients and clinicians alike to make informed decisions that prioritize the individual's health while also supporting healthy outcomes for families.
